Relations – of binding and letting go, the whole and its parts

Claudia Betzin has created a fifteen-piece work especially for a room of the exhibition in the Municipal Gallery Villa Zanders that not only reacts to the particular spatial circumstances but also actively integrates these in the artistic concept. The neutral white space in the gallery hereby becomes a colourful room that is by all means reminiscent of the former upper-class fittings of the 19th century. Otherwise, only the spacious dimensions of the room and the ceiling stucco remind us of the past history of the location, i.e. the original function of the room as a drawing room in a representative industrialist’s villa.
